This project was focused on interior design. I struggled finding an idea because they all seemed very basic (such as; inside a room, inside a car, etc.). I chose to do an inside of a microwave because it was a semi-basic idea, but I knew that I could add other colors to the piece that aren't normally found. For the first part of this project, I had to decide what medium to use. I chose to use oil paint so I could experiment with something new. Nearing the end of the project, I struggled with keeping some colors dominant on the walls and tray in the microwave. I was able to execute a transparent look to the tray in the middle by keeping a light layer of oil paint. Once the project was finished, I felt as if I learned a great deal about oil paint. I learned that it is difficult to use, that it is harder to blend then acrylic, and that it's hard to mix oil colors.

I chose to do a goofy photo for my self portrait because that is what best represents me. After practicing different techniques for painting with oil paint, I chose to use a brush. I believe that I could have done better with a pallet knife. Adding depth to the piece proved to be a real challenge because when I began blending colors, they all started to look like one color. Overall, I believe that it could have been better if I only used a different technique.
