This first semester of art was a very good and I loved the experience. I was able to learn new skills, use new materials, and chat with new people. I also loved doing new projects. Overall, the art experience was great because I got out of my comfort zone and tried new things.
For the new skills, I learned how to paint better with a paint brush and to paint with a pallet knife. I enjoyed learning these skills. Before, I already knew a little about what to do with the brushes and how to add texture. After painting, I learned how to blend better and mix colors using the brushes
I also learned how to paint with oil paints. I enjoyed that the most because all I painted with was acrylics. I loved learning the mixing process with oil. I also enjoyed how much easier it was to blend with the oil. If there was one problem that I would address, it would be how long it took to dry. That made it harder to complete my works in a set amount of time.
After being assigned multiple projects in a short amount of time, I learned how to manage my time better. I had about 9 projects to do in 2 quarters worth of time. I was able to execute them to the best of my ability in the set amount of time. The biggest struggle I had was giving a quality projects.
Overall, the first semester of art was very enjoyable and I had a good time creating art and using new things. My biggest take away was making new friends. I love the fact that we could bond over the creation of art and the similarities of what we are going through. I was able to learn a lot more about myself and learn a lot more about others. I can't wait to create more art and continue making excellent projects!
