Which project was your most successful? Describe the theme and or topic and the process you went through to complete the project. Were the choices you made regarding material, size, technique, etc beneficial to enhancing this project. Please explain.
The project I found most successful was the corner paint art. This was the piece in which I obtained a corner piece of a famous artwork. In my project, I was given "Starry Night" by Vincent Van Gogh. It was a dark setting with a detailed sky and the landscape included a set of blurry buildings and nature. The choices with materials were limited. I was given acrylic paint, even though it was an oil painting, so it was difficult to create the texture that matched the paintings texture. The size of the painting was pretty large, but I was able to trim it to cut down on the proportions. To give the painting a similar texture to the original painting, I made sure to use thick brush strokes and add multiple layers of paint. All of these developed a final product that seemed very similar to the original painting. Overall, I used the material and used techniques that made it so I could make a product similar to the original painting that I was given. 2. Choose 2 mini lessons that you felt were the most beneficial in your learning for that particular project. Include photos of these and explain thoroughly. Do you feel you needed more instruction for success? Explain or did you feel that the instruction given was enough to ensure success? Explain. (if you do not have a photo for this just answer the question without one) One of the mini lessons that I felt was beneficial was the paint value chart. With this mini lesson, I was able to practice transitioning light to dark and mixing colors to make the proper colors. I felt as if I was provided with sufficient instruction to successfully complete this particular project. Another one that I thought was beneficial was the creative color wheel project. It allowed me to think outside the box in making the idea for the color wheel and it helped me with techniques in making proper colors. I felt as if the instructions for this project were sufficient as well. Overall, both of these mini lessons allowed me to make my painting skills better. It also allowed me to excel in my future painting projects, such as the painting square project. 3. Look over the blogs of other students in our class. Choose a piece of artwork from one of your classmates that you feel is an exemplary showcase of what the project was to depict. Think about how the artist used the medium, utilized the elements of art and design principles, was original with their ideas and went beyond their comfort zone or the realm of the requirements. Make sure you have the image of their artwork along with their name (first name only) posted with this response. The artwork that I have chosen was Noah's colored pencil shoe. I chose it because he did a great job in executing the project and I could easily tell what he was going for. His medium was Prismacolor pencils and paper. Even though he only used those, he captured the texture of the shoe really well. It did seem like he went out of his comfort zone because it took him a while to complete and the final product was outstanding. He did a good job in replicating his reference images. The first time that I looked at his composition, I thought it was a reference image. He did a great job in focusing on all of the details. He got the stitching captured and the laces as well. The material of the shoe was captured well with the value that he added as well. Overall, Noah's final prismacolor project was well executed and visually appealing.
